Any hospital or health care facility that serves meals to patients, staff or visitors is able to participate in the Hospital Green Chef Meal project. Interested hospitals can review a general Hospital Green Chef Overview of the project and the Oregon Hospital Green Chef Meal Standards to determine if this project is a good fit for their facility. Meal standards are intended to be applied to full plate meals that are on patient and/or cafeteria menus. It is up to each hospital or health care facility to determine how often (e.g., once a day, once a week, once a menu cycle) and where (e.g., patient vs. cafeteria menus) they wish to apply the standards.
Participation in the project is free and self-monitored. We ask hospitals interested in participating to adhere to a “Good Faith Agreement” that indicates only meals that meet the standards are labeled with the Hospital Green Chef logo.
If your facility would like to implement the Hospital Green Chef Meal Standards, contact Gretchen Miller to sign up for the project and gain access to the online toolkit.
